The Bosnian Pyramids of Visoko Confirmed ?
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the largest pyramids in Europe could be hidden under three green hills.
In the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a few kilometers from the capital Sarajevo, rise three hills which for years have sparked fierce debate in the archaeological world. Bosnian-American archaeologist Semir Osmanagic claims to have discovered the largest and oldest pyramids on our planet in 2005. According to him, the three hills that rise up around the small Bosnian village of Visoko are indeed colossal pyramids covered by centuries-old layers of vegetation. Carrying out excavations is not easy, not only because of the hostility of the academic world to Osmanagic's assumptions, but also because there are numerous minefields in the area from the civil war that took place from 1990 to 1995. The whole site was renamed “the valley of the pyramids” and the archaeological structures that emerge are called the pyramid of the sun, the pyramid of the moon and the pyramid of the dragon. To understand the scope of the supposed discovery, the Pyramid of the Sun, when cleared from the hill, would reach 220 meters high, more than the Pyramid of Cheops in Egypt.

According to Osmanagic, it is "the largest complex ever built on our planet. In Visoko Valley, there are three large pyramid structures with four sides. (...) We must, however, demonstrate that these monuments are the work of man. The stone blocks found on the site are made of cement, an excellent quality cement (...). The fact that it has stood for several thousand years proves that it is a top quality material. Satellite images did show that the three hills evoke pyramid-inspired structures. But if the largest monumental complex ever discovered actually exists in the land of Bosnia, we still have to discover who was able to build it and when. What civilization would have been able to build such monuments at the time of the supposed dating of the site, namely 10,000 BC ?
Osmanagic further affirms: “As our geo-archaeological research progresses little by little, we find more and more evidence which reveals the human matrix of these immense monuments. The enormous sandstone slabs have been clearly worked by the hand of man. I think it would be obvious, even to a five year old. At about 1 meter deep, under a layer of earth, we found magnificent slabs of sandstone, perfectly ordered. By analyzing the material, we discovered that it was a material that is also present in the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. Which is to say that the three Bosnian pyramids were hand-built."
Moreover, the three hills raise their summits forming an equilateral triangle, which leads us to think of an architectural drawing of a human matrix. And this is not the only coincidence, as Osmanagic explains: “When we began to lay bare the walls and terraces of these monuments, we discovered an extremely interesting rectangular structure on the Pyramid of the Moon. These two pyramids, together with that of the Dragon, are arranged to form a triangle and are about 2.2 kilometers apart from each other. What is the probability that nature allowed these three hills to have the exact same design - four sides, a triangular shape, a flat top, a perfect orientation with respect to the cardinal points - and that the three together form an equilateral triangle? I would say none. Then near the top of the pyramid we find sandstone again. The position of the sandstone slab is vertical, and as we know things are not naturally placed vertically."
Visiting the excavations of Visoko, walking on pavements brought back to light plunges us into unknown realities. But some cry sacrilege. Garrett Fagan of Pennsylvania State University, for example, argues that « You should not be allowed to destroy an archaeologically authentic site by giving free rein to your whims. It’s as though we were bulldozing Stonehenge out. » Hoax or reality? The years to come will tell us whether we need to rewrite the history of archeology and the ancient civilizations that came before us.
