Where is the Ark of the Covenant Located ?
The Ark of the Covenant is one of the most mysterious objects of all time. All that concerns it is only pure supposition insofar as there is not the slightest historical trace of it. It derives its aura from its presumed content: the Tablets of Stone dictated by God to Moses. According to the Bible, which describes it in the Book of Exodus, it is an acacia wood chest, entirely covered with fine gold inside and out, a gold ring at each corner. Two sticks of acacia wood also covered with fine gold are always threaded in these rings to allow transportation. The cover is surmounted by two winged creatures with the body of a lion and the face of a sphinx. The arch would measure 125 centimeters long by 75 centimeters high.
In the Book of Exodus, it is also said that God would send lightning on anyone who dares to touch the Ark of the Covenant. Indeed, according to tradition, the Ark of the Covenant is endowed with supernatural powers, which can even make it dangerous and uncontrollable. In certain circumstances, it can emit a dazzling gleam capable of blinding thousands of people. The Bible also cites it as an exterminating angel, knowing that it was thanks to the powers of the ark that the Jews succeeded in destroying their enemies in the 13th century.
In search of the Ark of the Covenant location
The Bible evokes the Ark of the Covenant until the day when it is said to be placed in King Solomon's Temple. Then, inexplicably, the Bible no longer mentions it. It goes without saying that around such a singular object, the hypotheses are numerous. It is said to have been destroyed in 586 BC by the Babylonians, as well as the Temple of Jerusalem, after the conquest of the city. However, the second Book of the Maccabees - which is part of the Old Testament - says that the prophet Jeremiah saved it from destruction by hiding it on Mount Nebo. The sacred Ethiopian text Kebra Nagast affirms, on the contrary, that the Ark of the Covenant would have been given by King Solomon to Menelik I who, in his turn, would have entrusted it to Coptic monks. The latter would keep it, even today, in a temple of Axum. Still others claim that it is located in a chapel on the shores of Lake Tana. In all cases, the Ethiopian hypotheses are unverifiable insofar as the monks refuse to show the object, under the pretext that it is “too sacred”.
From the Templars to aliens
A final hypothesis is that the Ark of the Covenant, hidden in the Temple of Jerusalem to be saved from destruction, was found by the Templars in the Middle Ages. This version does not specify where it is currently located. Among the many possibilities mentioned, it is even said that it would actually be a powerful weapon of extraterrestrial origin. For now, the Ark of the Covenant therefore seems destined to remain a legendary object. But if the Bible says true in its Book of Revelation, the ark will reappear on the day of the Last Judgment.
